JPG to PNG Converter

Convert JPG images to PNG — lossless, editing-friendly format.

Drop images here, click to browse, or paste (Ctrl+V)JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC in · batch supported

Convert JPG to PNG free and instantly in your browser. PNG is lossless — ideal when you need an image that survives repeated editing and saving, or when an app insists on PNG uploads.

Why convert

Every time a JPG is edited and re-saved, it loses a little more quality. Converting to PNG freezes the current quality losslessly, making it the right working format for screenshots, graphics, logos and any image you plan to edit again. PNG files are larger — that is the price of lossless.

How it works

  1. Drop your images (or click to browse / paste with Ctrl+V) — batch conversion supported.
  2. Adjust quality if you like — 92% is visually lossless for most photos.
  3. Download each file or grab them all with one click. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Does JPG to PNG improve quality?

No — it preserves current quality exactly and prevents further loss. Detail already lost to JPG compression cannot be recovered.

Why is my PNG bigger than the JPG?

PNG stores the image losslessly; photos naturally take more space. That is normal and expected.

Does the PNG get transparency?

The format supports it, but a converted photo has no transparent areas to reveal — transparency matters for graphics created with it.

Is there any upload?

No — everything runs locally in your browser.

What converting JPG to PNG is actually for

PNG is lossless, so this conversion is about stopping further quality loss and about the things PNG can do that JPG cannot:

  • You are about to edit repeatedly. Every JPG save discards a little more detail. Converting to PNG first means the editing rounds do not compound.
  • You need transparency later. JPG has no alpha channel at all. Converting gives you a format that can hold one once you cut the background out.
  • Something demands PNG — certain upload forms, app icon pipelines and documentation tools accept nothing else.
  • Screenshots and diagrams saved as JPG — sharp edges and flat colour are exactly what JPG handles worst.

Converting does not restore what JPG discarded

This is the single most common misunderstanding, so it is worth being blunt: a JPG converted to PNG contains exactly the same visual information it did before. The compression artefacts, the softened edges, the blocky patches in flat sky — all preserved perfectly, because PNG is lossless.

What you gain is that nothing further is lost from this point on. What you do not gain is quality that was already thrown away.

Expect a much larger file

For photographs, PNG is typically five to ten times the size of the equivalent JPG. A 400 KB photo can become 3 MB.

For screenshots, logos and anything with flat colour, the gap narrows sharply and PNG is sometimes even smaller — lossless compression works extremely well on large areas of identical pixels, which is precisely what photographs do not have.

Which format for which job

The short version: photographs → JPG or WebP. Screenshots, logos, diagrams, anything with text or sharp edges → PNG. Getting this the wrong way round is why some sites are slow and why some logos look blurry.

Converted on your device

Nothing is uploaded — the conversion runs in your browser. For the reverse, see PNG to JPG; for WebP and batch work, the image converter; and if the PNG is too large to upload anywhere, compress to an exact KB size.
